Product Description Product Specs/Additional Information Related Videos Audio Product Description We are proud to offer an exceptionally rare Hofner Violin Bass Rooftop ’69, a faithful replica of the bass Paul McCartney played during the Beatles’ legendary final performance on the London Apple Corps rooftop on January 30, 1969.Built in Hagenau, Germany by Hofner luthier Thomas Stühlein, this special edition reproduces McCartney’s iconic 1963 500/1 left-hand Violin Bass with incredible attention to detail. Light aging reflects six years of use during Beatles shows and recording sessions, including subtle finish wear, ‘buckle rash,’ and untrimmed Rotosound nylon tape-wound strings. A removable static-cling BASSMAN sticker—matching the one McCartney reportedly took from a Fender Bassman carton—is also included.This example was displayed at the 2022 Summer NAMM show in Anaheim and is currently the only Rooftop Bass in Canada.The bass comes complete with the original Hofner tweed case and official ‘Rooftop Bass’ certificate, making it a unique collector’s item and a playable tribute to one of rock’s most legendary instruments.
